I strive to make cool, in-depth reporting projects. My books include Palestine Speaks: Narratives of Life Under Occupation (McSweeney's, 2014), and the forthcoming Six By Ten: Stories from Solitary
(Haymarket, 2018). My video work includes this piece from a former undercover CIA officer, as well as hosted pieces dealing with homelessness and prisons.

I volunteer as a journalism instructor at San Quentin State Prison. Previously I earned journalism degrees from the UC-Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism and the University of Colorado-Boulder. My work has appeared in The Best American Nonrequired Reading, Harper'sRolling StonePacific StandardLucky PeachMcSweeney's, Atlas ObscuraGuernica, and AJ+, among other places.
